Adult Swim's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Substantial Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

During the fall season, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the channel unveiled a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a laid-back talk show. At a time often marked by bleakness, this show's sincerity struck a chord and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for a further two seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He specifically highlighted the fans who found the show and advocated for its peculiarly charming sensibility.

"All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about following this lovable family navigate their everyday routines.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to help comedy break out of its long-running sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to enjoy the gentle humor of the beloved Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
