Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
