Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
