Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United After Leading Derogatory Chants About Coach Wilder

The striker has signed with the Championship side just half a year following starting disrespectful taunts aimed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old forward, a free agent after departing from Leeds United, has agreed to a contract with the second-tier strugglers until January. Bamford's seven-year career at Elland Road was ended through agreement in August.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player included starting offensive songs about Wilder during Leeds' promotion celebrations in April. Currently, the former England international will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to pull his beloved club away from the bottom places.

Previous Conflict Involving Bamford & Wilder

Both men had history prior to Leeds moved up back to the Premier League last season and United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder called Bamford as a "muppet" back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured automatic promotion while Leeds United missed out in the playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

All appears has been forgiven and forgotten with United, the league's least productive attack, urgently requiring of improvement up front and Bamford looking to revive his playing days.

The song about Wilder gained traction this spring. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Chris Wilder stated at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I’ve no problem at all with that. I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow pro! But I appreciated and admired him giving me a call.

“We had 20 minutes and the same again I talked with Daniel as well and had a half-hour chat together and he's a super guy, a class act. Back in my playing days we used to dish it out and take it and that’s part and parcel of the game at every level, including Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Pat.”

Latest Playing Struggles

Bamford featured in 18 games for Leeds in the previous campaign but the ex- Forest, Chelsea & Boro player has struggled with injury in recent years.
