Salah Issues Apology to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Salah said sorry to the team following the uproar from his televised remarks.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a vital match after voicing frustrations and stating his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has previously declined to disclose on whether he got an explanation from the 33-year-old forward.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
Jones also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “I get that there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
Liverpool's form have remained strong in the games following the situation. The player is convinced the Salah's words were not intended to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, playing well and starting to win games.”
