Three In Contention for Young Sports Star Prize
Announced recently
English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the 2025 Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
These three athletes have been honoured for their exceptional achievements over the past 12 months.
Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses win Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a historic innings.
Littler won the award in 2024 after his remarkable rise.
The shortlisted athletes were unveiled on a popular morning radio program.
The 2025 recipient will be revealed live on the prestigious sports ceremony show on December 18th.
The event will be aired from 19:00 GMT.
Agyemang's Profile
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Just three months after her international debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to European Championship victory.
She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.
These match-saving moments led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.
Afterwards, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the best young player in Europe.
She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.
Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.
"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is incredible," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler kicked off the year in spectacular fashion as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.
He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.
He didn't stop there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the very first time.
At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, smashing the previous record.
"Being nominated for the honour once more is a big honour," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a special memory for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."
Davina Perrin
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and burst into the spotlight with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.
Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.
It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.
Perrin finished second in the run-scoring charts and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.
"I'm truly honoured to be nominated for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it motivates more young females to get into cricket."
