Two Victims Revealed in the Providence Campus Incident as Police Press On With Hunt for Gunman.

Two students who were killed in Saturday’s violent attack at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their killer carried on following the release by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, the group said. The White House press secretary also posted sympathies publicly, saying in part: “There are no words. Thinking of her family and friends, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a search at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you need to change course and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the building on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a police source told the news agency.

Police that entered the hotel recovered two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the suspect was taken into custody, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was discharged from care, said the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in serious yet stable state, and one remained in critical care, authorities stated on Sunday.
